Don A. Bishop

About the artist:
D.A. Bishop was born in rural Virginia and has lived in many places along the Eastern Seaboard before settling in Sonoma County, California. Don started his education in painting in 1966, in 1969, studied art history at Daytona Beach collage. 1970 brought Don to the Atlanta School of Art.
He discovered, after a brief period at the Atlanta School of Art, that life experience was more enticing than a structured art education. He is showing in fine galleries nationally and regionally.
Thus began various careers as a billboard painter, a graphic artist for a theater company, and an intinerant limner.
Bishop has traveled extensively, visiting museums worldwide and has always worked from the live model. He says "I like simple, strong, shapes whether rendering architecture, landscape or the human form." The new body of painting presented by D.A. Bishop addresses the issues of identity, psychology, and the landscape.
