This extremely energy-efficient clock does not need to be wound or moved, as it derives its energy from temperature changes, functioning almost like a true perpetual motion machine without the need for batteries or human intervention.
The entire clock is housed in a gas/ethyl chloride-enhanced environment, hermetically sealed in a transparent capsule. When the temperature rises, the pressure increases in the specially designed internal chamber, which is sufficient to compress a fine spring. As the temperature drops, the gas returns to its original volume, releasing the spring. This movement keeps the mechanism alive, requiring only a 1-degree temperature change to operate continuously.
