About the artist: Klimó Károly (1936-) painter. Studied at the Dési Huber Free School under Margit Gráber. Attended the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts from 1956, where he was mentored by Aurél Bernáth, Gyula Pap, István Szőnyi, and Endre Domanovszky, and also studied with János Kmetty. Traveled for studies in several Eastern and Western European countries. Received the Derkovits Scholarship from 1964-67. Awarded the Munkácsy Prize in 1972. Honored as an Eminent Artist in 1998. Has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts since 1971, and since 1990 as head of department. Member of the Széchenyi Academy of Arts since 1993. Also created graphics and book illustrations. His works are displayed in the Hungarian National Gallery, the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, the Ferenczy Museum in Szentendre, the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs, the Szentendre Art Museum, and the Győr City Museum.
