JÁNOSSY Ferenc painter (Budapest, September 13, 1926 – Balassagyarmat, February 26, 1983)
1945-1950: Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, painting, then mosaic specialty, masters: Szőnyi István, Kmetty János and Fónyi Géza; 1957-1961: Kunstgewerbe Schule, Basel. 1951: member of the "Négyesfogat" artist association [with Nuridsány Zoltán, Orosz Gellért, and Sugár Gyulával]; in 1952, he founded the Szőnyi Artists' Community dealing with the production and marketing of etchings; 1952-1956: member of the Artistic Foundation and the Szinyei Merse Pál Society; from 1956 for a year in Italy, lived in Basel between 1957 and 1963; exhibited at the Salgótarján Spring Exhibition between 1971 and 1983; 1982: studied in the Soviet Union; lived in Balassagyarmat from 1964 until his death. His works from the 1950s are non-figurative, surrealistic compositions and dark-toned landscapes. Starting from 1964, his works are powerful, expressive paintings filled with visual elements, including figurative compositions and landscape series. A significant part of his figurative works deals with the theme of carnival or circus - often referencing the expression of naive painting. At the end of his life, he created a fine series of watercolors in Gyenesdiás. Both his portraits and forest details reflect his strong artistic presentation skills. His oeuvre ranges from post-impressionism to surrealism. In addition to oil and watercolor paintings, he also created mosaics and graphics. He also dealt with ceramic painting. His masters: Szőnyi István, Kmetty János, Fónyi Géza.

A very beautiful collector's piece!
The frame has just been restored. It also received a new dust cover, on the back of the etching the
stamp of the Hungarian People's Republic Art Foundation and the inscription "Artistically verified"
(unfortunately only faintly, see photos)
I photographed these because in their current - newly framed condition, the dust cover is not visible.
