Biography of Gyula Xantus (1919-1993):

Painter, graphic artist. He graduated from the Budapest College of Fine Arts in 1946. His masters were István Szőnyi and Lajos Varga. He worked as a high school teacher between 1947-50. He was head of the Department of Visual Education at the National Pedagogical Institute from 1960-62. He taught at the College of Fine Arts from 1963 until his retirement. Since 1954 he has been exhibiting. His works can be found in the Hungarian National Gallery, the Bihar Museum, the Simontornya Castle Museum, the Corno City Collection and the Xantus John Museum in Gyor.
