Between 1911 and 1914 he studied painting in Paris, where he was taught by Henry Martin and Maurice Denis. In 1913, he studied with István Réti in Nagybány, then with aladár Körösfői-Kriesch in the capital. Between 1914 and 1919 he was a civilian internee in Brittany. While in captivity, he drew, painted, and sculpted. In 1919, he worked at the artist colony of József Rippl-rónai in Fonyód. Between 1920 and 1944 he painted in Badacsony. He was a regular exhibitor from 1921. Between 1921 and 1927, he worked as the fine arts editor of the Hungarian writing magazine. Between 1924 and 1925 he lived in Paris. Between 1926 and 1949, he was a founding member of the new association of visual artists, a member of the board and a regular exhibitor. Between 1925 and 1926 he was in Italy. In 1930, he was a co-founder of the workshop association. He designed carpets in the 1930s. Between 1944 and 1947, he lived on a hill. In 1945, his studio in the Clotild palace on eskü út (today: szbatsájtó út) burned down, and most of his works were destroyed. Between 1948 and 1949 he lived in Békásmejer. In 1958, he traveled to Paris again. From 1963, he was preoccupied with the new, colored glass painting technique. In 1986, he had a memorial exhibition in the old gallery.
