A filmet Ultra Panavision 70 típusú kamerával forgatták 70 milliméteres filmre (Cinerama). A halál ötven órája világbemutatója 1965. december 16-án, az Ardenneki csata kezdetének 21. évfordulóján volt Kaliforniában, Hollywoodban a Cinerama Dome filmszínházban.
