Sándor Ék (born 1902-1975: sándor leicht, German stage name alex keil) is a painter and graphic artist from Münkacsy and Kossuth Prize winner. In 1919, he was a student of Béla Uitz and József Nemes-Lampérth in the proletarian fine arts workshop, then in 1921 he studied with El Liszicki in Vienna. He lived in Germany from 1925 to 1933, where he appeared with his caricature drawings. In 1933, when Hitler came to power, he was forced to emigrate to Moscow, where his posters brought him recognition. In 1944, he returned home to Hungary as a soldier of the Red Army.
In 1948, he was appointed director of the museum of applied arts. From 1949, he was a teacher at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, where he headed the graphics department. His works can be found in the Hungarian National Gallery and the Hungarian National Museum.
