Opened in 1871, the national Hungarian Royal School of Model Drawing and Drawing Teacher Training was the first Hungarian art school and drawing teacher training. Its first director was Gusztáv Keleti, his teachers were: Bertalan Székely (figure drawing, painting), Frigyes Schulek (geometry, perspective, architecture, carving), Miklós Izsó (patterning), assistant teacher: János Gregus (figure drawing and painting), extraordinary teachers: Pál Plósz (autopsy), József Haás (military site map).
The educational institution operated under the name Hungarian Royal College of Fine Arts from 1908, Hungarian College of Fine Arts from 1945, and Hungarian University of Fine Arts from 2000.
Despite its worn condition, the anatomy board depicting cattle is a special relic of the beginning of art education in Hungary.
