Oszkár Papp was born in Budapest in 1925. Between 1945 and 1950 he attended the College of Fine Arts, his teachers were among others Aurél Bernáth and István Szőnyi. His first drawing was published in the March 1947 issue of old reality. His first artistic writings were published in the same magazine. In 1950, during the Rákos era, he was excluded from everywhere, for two and a half decades he lived by restoring murals and mosaics for the monument protection office.
Around 1960, he develops his abstract organic painting language, characterized by crystal and plant formations, and abstractions and free combinations of the human figure.
