István Zádor, graphic artist and painter, was born in Nagykikinda in 1882. The national Hungarian kir. He studied at a drawing school and drawing teacher's training school (1901–1905), at the école des beaux-arts in Paris (master: t. A. Steinlein), and then at the Florence Academy (1909–1910). It was presented for the first time in Hungary at the 1907 annual exhibition of the gallery. During his studies, he was a bank clerk in Budapest (1900–1906), the i. War correspondent and war painter during the World War (with Miklós Vadasz and János Vaszary, 1914–1918). During the revolutions and the Soviet republic, the so-called He made reportage drawings (1918–1919), after the fall of the Soviet Republic he lived in Weimar and then in Munich. Between 1924 and 1944 he lived and worked in the artist colony in Szolnok. He worked in the Netherlands from the fall of 1938, then returned to Hungary after the war.
In the 1950s, he worked primarily as a graphic artist, illustrating many classic literary works. His life's work was recognized with the Kossuth prize in 1958, and he died in 1963 at the age of 81. Today, his pictures can be found in many collections around the world, including the Albertina, the British Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and other foreign collections.
