The Korean War lasted from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953. It was a war between South and North Korea, in which UN forces led by the United States of America fought on the side of the South, while China, supported by the Soviet Union, fought on the side of the North. The root causes of the war were the division of Korea after the Second World War and the deepening Cold War, of which this was the first armed conflict.
