- Szent Martina, római szűz, korán elvesztette szüleit, hatalmas vagyonát a szegények között osztotta szét. Alexander Severus császár alatt parancsot kapott, hogy áldozzon a hamis isteneknek, Martina azonban elutasította ezt, inkább vállalta a kínokat Jézus nevéért. Ezután kínpadra vonták az ártatlan szüzet, de ő a legnagyobb kínok között is állhatatos maradt, a végén lefejezték.
