Balogh Ervin műszaki Egyetemet végzett, csak azután kezdett foglalkozni a festészettel. Első csoportos kiállítása 1955-ben volt az ERNST Múzeumban, melyet. több is követett a fővárosban és vidéken. Első egyéni tárlata 1977-ben volt Miskolcon, majd Szombathelyen.Külföldön, Lengyelországban, Tokióban, New Yorkban és Németországban szerepelt. Néhány képe a Magyar Nemzeti Galériában található. Munkásságáért rengeteg díjat kapott.
