Id. Benedek Jenő (1906-1987.) első mestere a kecskeméti művésztelepen Révész Imre volt, majd a Képzőművészeti Főiskolán Benkhard Ágost irányításával képezte magát 1927-
1932-ig. Hosszabb tanulmányutat tett Olaszországba és Németországba, amely nagy hatással volt művészetére. 1944-től Szolnokon tanított, és az ottani művésztelepen dolgozott. 1953-tól a Képző- és Iparművészeti Gimnázium tanára volt.Munkásságáért Munkácsy-díjat és Kossuth-díjat kapott. Művei közül a Magyar Nemzeti Galériában is többet őriz.
