Karvaly József festőművész Ungváron született 1864-ben.
Budapesten tanult a Képzőművészeti Főiskolán, ahol Székely Bertalan és Karlovszky Bertalan voltak a mesterei, később Münchenben Hollósy Simon növendéke volt. 1899-ben Itáliában járt tanulmányúton.
1895- 1909 között főleg képmásokkal szerepelt a Műcsarnokban.

Farostlemezre festve olajfestékkel, kb. 100 évvel ezelőtt. Néhány pici lepattogzás a koránál fogva található rajta, azonban nem szembetűnő. s könnyen korrigálható.
