A szombathelyi születésű, Herder-díjas Gerő László (1909-1995) építész-történész a hazai műemlékvédelem egyik kiemelkedő alakja volt. A Műegyetemen végzett tanulmányai után, 1935-36-ban a Római Magyar Akadémia ösztöndíjasaként a Santo Stefano Rotunda helyreállításával foglalkozott. Ekkor, 1936-ban készítette ezt a történelmi hitelességű akvarellt Róma egyik kiemelkedő műemlékéről. A kép a művészi tehetségű építész által saját kezűleg aláírt, datált. A különleges, életrajzi szempontból is jelentős, közgyűjteménybe illő, de magángyűjtői érdeklődésre is számot tartó alkotást keretezve, falra akasztható állapotban kínálom.
