Lajos Luzsicza (1920-2005) Münkacsy Prize-winning painter Balaton coast, fire enamel picture on a steel sheet support, framed. Marked lower right lajos luzsicza, 1986. Painting, enamel size: 15 cm x 48.5 cm, in frame: 25 cm x 58.5 cm. Among Lajos Luzsicza's landscapes, the fire enamel landscape of the Balaton coast is a special, unique work, as his paintings typically made with oil-on-canvas, oil-on-cardboard, acrylic-on-wood, tempera-on-wood, watercolor-paper, plexiglass-on-wood techniques have appeared in auctions and galleries.
Lajos Luzsicza (Érsekújvár, 1920 - 2005, Budapest) completed his studies at the Hungarian College of Fine Arts in Budapest between 1940 and 1947, as a student of Vilmos Aba-Novák. Between 1947 and 1950 he lived in Tatabánya, worked as a drawing teacher, founded and managed the miner's free school of fine arts. He lived in Budapest from 1950, worked in the fine arts department of the Ministry of Culture, taught at the Budapest Pedagogical College, and then became the director of the art gallery. In 1994, he was one of the founders of the contemporary Hungarian gallery in Dunaszerdahely and the Slovak gallery in Békéscsaba. In 1971, he was awarded the Münkacsy Award, and later was recognized as a worthy artist.
The highland landscape was a constant source of inspiration for his painting, but he was equally interested in the Balaton highlands, the Danube Bend and Nógrád.
His works can be found, among others, in the Hungarian National Gallery, the Déri Museum in Debrecen, in Slovakia in the City Gallery in Bratislava, the Art Gallery in Ársekújvár, and the Contemporary Hungarian Gallery in Dunaszerdahely.
