We attribute the painting to the work of Gyula Brassai (fisherman). The famous photographer was a student of the Budapest College of Fine Arts in 1918-1919, he painted oil paintings, but we have no knowledge that there would be surviving paintings and graphics from the later world-famous photographer in a public collection, museum or private property. Maybe this is the first ... The lights of the portrait, its "studio" lighting may already suggest the abilities of the later photographer ... Question of course, did he really paint it? An exciting piece for further research.
