A budapesti Iparművészeti Főiskola után Münchenben tanult Hollósi Simonnál, majd Nagybánya, Róma, Párizs következett .Hazatérése után Hódmezővásárhelyen Tornyai Jánossal alkotott . Az első világháború ideje alatt Losoncon alkotott, utána Budapestre költözött , ahol a Képzőművészeti Főiskolán 30 éven át tanított.
1947- ben megalapította Baján a művésztelepet, és festőiskolát.
