Buday Mihály 1953-ban született Törökbecsén, Jugoszláviában.
A tanárképző főiskolát Becskereken fejezte be. 1975-ben Zentára költözött és a nyolcvanas évek elején kapcsolódott be a Zentai Képzőművészeti Csoport munkájába. Alapító tagja a zentai ART-90 festőcsoportnak. 1991 óta részt vesz a magyarországi alkotótáborok munkájában is.
1994-ben települt át Magyarországra. Tanárként dolgozik. Eddig több önálló tárlata volt, képei eljutottak az USA-ba, Svédországba, Németországba és Ausztriába is. Alkotói tevékenységében a szürrealizmus, a hiperrealizmus, a szimbolizmus, valamint a szecesszió elemei ötvöződnek, létrehozva egy új egységet és minőséget.
