Festő. Először építésznek készült. Bécsben, majd 1874-től a müncheni Képzőművészeti Akadémián tanult festeni. 1889-ben a Mintarajziskola tanára. 1915-ben a budapesti Iparművészeti Iskola igazgatója. A műegyetemen tanított rajzot és népművészetet. Több hazai kiállításon szerepelt. 1920-ban az állami vízfestmény-díjat kapta meg. Két ízben is, 1922-ben és 1923-ban, elnyerte a Magyar Akvarell- és Pasztellfestők Egyesületének díját. 1925-ben a székesfőváros akvarell díját kapta.
