A budapesti Képzőművészeti Főiskolán végzett 1938-ban. Mestere: Benkhard Ágost, Burghardt Rezső. 1939-ben Miskolcon telepedett le, ahol a művésztelep egyik alapító tagjaként haláláig működött. 1939-ben elnyerte a Balló Ede- és a Székely Bertalan-díjat.1952-ben Munkácsy-díjas lett. 1956-ban megkapta Miskolc város nagydíját.
