MD Berlitz illustrated book for children, 30th edition, 1913. 111 page illustrated English language book from 1913. The one shown in the picture is in good condition with stains, in perfect condition. In addition to the lessons, it also contains readings, basic vocabulary and the list and addresses of Berlitz language schools of the time.
Maximilian Berlitz emigrated from Germany to the USA in 1872 and founded his first language school in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1878. His own experiences and work with his students led him to the idea that a foreign language can be learned easily and quickly if the teacher always speaks and teaches in the foreign language from the beginning. At Berlitz, the student and the teacher could not use their mother tongue. Complete "immersion" in the foreign language is actually the essence of the method. Another, basic premise was that foreign language teaching was provided exclusively by foreign teachers whose mother tongue was the foreign language. Among them were well-known names such as Emile Zola or James Joyce.
