What are shipping templates?

Shipping templates are predefined shipping options that you can assign to your products.

The benefits of shipping templates in brief:

- faster item uploading: the shipping template only needs to be entered once, then for each item with the same shipping settings, the seller only needs to select the template previously entered. This makes the item upload process faster and easier, as you do not have to enter the same information over and over again.

- easy updating of shipping fees, settings: if shipping fees or settings change later, the change only needs to be made on the shipping template, as the shipping setting is automatically changed for each item linked to the template. This way, you can update the shipping settings for hundreds or even thousands of items with just a few clicks. The fact that customers are presented with accurate and up-to-date delivery charges has been shown to further increase customer willingness to buy.

How do shipping templates work and what are they for?

Depending on the type of items the seller is offering for sale, the shipping settings can usually be grouped into larger categories that are repeated. This is because an item of a similar size and nature is usually delivered to the buyer for the same price, usually with the same usual shipping options.

Each seller has its own tried and tested shipping methods, as well as shipping fees that are tailored to the size and type of the item. But it may also be the case that a seller ships all its items using the same shipping options for the same fee.

The seller may set shipping templates based on the items they offer for sale. A shipping template only needs to be entered once, after which the seller only needs to select the previously entered template for each item with the same shipping options.

The advantage of this is that if the price of a shipping option changes in the future, the change only needs to be made once. The shipping fee will then be updated for all items for which that template has been set.

Shipping templates therefore not only speed up the process of uploading items, but also allow bulk updates of shipping fees for existing items to be done in seconds.

Below we have collected the most frequently asked questions about shipping templates and the answers to them.

How can I create a new shipping template?
  1. You can create a new shipping template when you upload a new item or under Shipping Templates on the Seller Settings page.
  2. Enter the shipping details. Select the shipping options you want to use, you can select multiple shipping options using the "add new shipping option" link.
  3. Save the shipping template.

Choosing a right name is important!
When creating a shipping template, be sure to give the template a name that will allow you to easily identify each shipping template later. For example, you can use a name for a package size (e.g. small package) or a name for a type of delivery (e.g. small package - parcel locker), or any name that will make it easy for you to identify each shipping template later. Only you can see the name of the template.

If necessary, you can change the name of a template at any time during the template editing process.

When should you create a new template?

We advise sellers to avoid saving templates with very similar settings. For example, it is not worth creating a separate template if the shipping options are otherwise identical, but there is a small difference in price of a few cents.

In this case, consider using the existing template or making the necessary changes to it. This way you can avoid having to manage multiple shipping templates with minimally different settings, which would make it difficult to easily manage and update your shipping settings later.
How can I create a new one from an existing template?

When adding a new shipping template, it is sometimes easier to use the settings of an existing template.

  1. Open the Shipping Templates window when uploading or editing an item or under Shipping Templates on the Seller Settings page.
  2. Choose the Duplicate option next to the shipping template you want to duplicate.
  3. Make the necessary changes and save the shipping template.
